How to Add an Accessibility Statement to Your Website
Follow these steps to add an accessibility statement to your website.
Step 1: Access the Template
- Go to the Schudio blog where an accessibility statement template is available.
- Find the section containing the accessibility statement.
- Highlight the entire statement text.
- Copy the text using Command+C (Mac) or Ctrl+C (Windows).
Step 2: Create a New Page on Your Website
- Log in to your website editor.
- Navigate to the Pages section.
- Click the green plus (+) button to create a new page.
- In the content box, paste the copied text using Command+V (Mac) or Ctrl+V (Windows).
Step 3: Customise the Accessibility Statement
- Add a title for your page, e.g., Accessibility Statement.

Replace placeholders such as [School Name] with your actual school name.
Review the content carefully to ensure it matches your school's details.
If mentioned, update the UserWay Accessibility Widget information:

Fill in your contact details:
- Email address
- Phone number
- School postal address

- Ensure all links and details are correct.
Step 4: Save the Page
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page.
- Click the Save button to publish the accessibility statement.
Step 5: Add the Page to Your Website Menu
- Go to the Menus section of your website.
- Click either Top Menu, Bottom Menu or Navigation Bar dependent on where you want it to appear
- Click Add New Item.
- Enter Accessibility Statement as the menu item name.
- Link the menu item to the newly created Accessibility Statement page by selecting it from the dropdown.
- Click Save to update the menu.
Step 6: Preview and Verify
- Open your website in a new tab.
- Check the menu to confirm the Accessibility Statement link is visible.
- Click the link to ensure it directs to the correct page.
- Review the content again for accuracy.
